Toronto Bride

Shan & Doug | Palais Royale Wedding

Palais Royale Wedding

Five years ago, an intense game of ultimate frisbee broke out at Riverdale Park. There the two competitive souls Shan and Doug met each other for the first time. Soon the fervent competitiveness in them, coupled with a cute awkwardness they both share, transformed into something way sweeter than they have ever imagined. Over years of standing by each other’s side as a quirky and supportive couple, they have both grown certain that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Then, in the fall of 2021, Doug proposed to Shan in the forest. Overwhelmed by emotions and happiness, Shan shakily said yes!

Fast forward to the big day: After the emotional first look and snapping some nice pictures by the bike path and graffiti bridge (where Shan and Doug went biking on their first date!), our stunning bride changed into her beautiful Qi Pao for the Chinese tea ceremony, where the couple received many blessings from their family. Then, Shan changed to a graceful white wedding dress and got ready for the wedding ceremony at Palais Royale. Magic filled the air when we saw her walking down the aisle, with the groom looking at her with tender love in his eyes. Witnessed by loving friends and family, personal vows were exchanged and the knot was tied! Around sunset, the blissful couple made their entrance to a reception hall filled with loved ones to celebrate with them. Everyone had so much fun and the night was simply delightful. When it was time for the party to end, the couple’s family and bridal party lit the night with sparklers for Shan and Doug to make the dreamiest exit possible. We were at a loss for words at the thought and creativity put into this. Certainly this will be a special night for the couple and all their guests to forever remember by.

Thank you so much Shan and Doug for having us at your wedding! We had so much fun documenting the details of your union and manning the photo booth! We wish you a lifetime of happiness from the bottom of our hearts.

Rebekah & Steven | Angus Glen Golf Club Wedding

It has already been less than a year ago since we met Rebekah and Steven for their engagement photoshoot; we couldn’t believe that their wedding day was already here! Their sweet budding love story has now bloomed and their wedding displayed just a fraction of their commitment to each other!

Their story began as students, diligently working hard towards their career aspirations: Steven, a data scientist, and Rebekah, a lawyer-in-training. These two smart individuals studied together along with their friends from a student Christian group and bonded over the unlikeliest of subjects - math homework! Despite a casual friendship with each other, Steven started to have feelings for Rebekah and took a chance to stay in Toronto after graduation. Conversation after conversation, their friendship took the next step into courtship! A couple years later, Steven brought Rebekah to Toronto Island and proposed to his best friend who he wanted to share the rest of his life with!

This couple planned their wedding ceremony to be at Chinese Gospel Church Scarborough. As we walked through the sanctuary doors of the church, the stage was refreshingly decorated with natural greenery from the bride’s own home! Despite not being a gardener herself, Rebekah’s family provided all the real plants and logs grown from their backyard. It felt as if we were invited to Steven and Rebekah’s secret spot in the forest!

Keeping the theme of greenery, we went up to Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ontario. The vast land and golden sunset brought a warm and romantic start to the reception! Each table had potted plants as their centerpiece, herbs from the garden! The bride’s mother and grandmother grew them with care specifically for Rebekah as one of the many ways they showed support for her. Both Rebekah and Steven shared how encouraged and grateful they were to have many of their friends and family members help with the wedding. We were just as inspired to see such a family come together just for them! What a community to be a part of.

We are so thankful that these two lovebirds shared and celebrated this time with us! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you both. Congrats on becoming Mr and Mrs!

Christine & Jamie | Sunnyside Pavilion Micro Wedding

Sunnyside Pavillion Wedding 46.jpg

Christine and Jamie’s wedding was a long time coming. We met these two beautiful souls virtually for the very first time in June 2020. They just arrived to the cottage and quickly jumped on the meeting with us. Even though the WIFI connection was not the strongest, and sometimes laggy, but their personalities radiated through the screen! They were nothing less from gentle, kind, friendly and always seeking for a good time - and these were exactly what we witnessed on their big day!

Like most couples planning a wedding during a pandemic, it definitely was not easy for the bride- and groom-to-be. Knowing that they are peoples-people who enjoys spending time with loved ones, but there were a few items that needed to be taken out of the wedding day agenda due to the restrictions. (This calls for real sacrifice and flexibility.) At the time of our check-in meeting, a few weeks before their wedding, Toronto had just moved into Stage 1 from the Stay-at-home orders. It was hard to keep to the 10 person limit for the ceremony and extremely struggled between having grandma or brother! BUT… GUESS WHATTTT!! The week of their wedding, we moved into STAGE TWO where indoor ceremony was allowed for up to 50 people!! This means BOTH brother and grandma annnnnddd more families and friends can attend! (It was like God heard their struggles and lifted the restrictions just in time for their special day!) We know what a challenge it was for them so we were ecstatic when we heard this news and received their email confirmation! Our hearts already celebrated with them the days leading up to their wedding day. They ever so deserve to be celebrating this special day with their friends and families. Have I mentioned that they were peoples-people? Their friends love them so much and were overjoyed with the union, they even surprised the newly wed with a fun sign outside the church! Bubbles and the ‘Just Married’ sign brought out the festivities for the new Mr and Mrs (see photos below)!

Ohhhkayy, oookk, not only are these two beautiful on the inside but they’re like friggin’ STUNNING on the outside! Gahh, they look so darn good that made the backdrop as their prop. Sunnyside Pavilion is gorgeous backdrop for engagement or weddings. When we first suggested this location to them, they told us their concerns for it not looking so great for wedding photos because it was a bit dingy vibe. But until we showed them some wedding photos of the venue, Christine immediately fell in love with it and booked it. So happy she did because they look absolutely stunning in it! Felt like we were photographing models for bridal magazines! Don’t believe me? Scroll down to see it for yourself!

Thank you Christine and Jamie for giving us the opportunity to have journeyed with you and documenting your big day! We wish you an abundant of blessings and a lifetime of happiness to come! Congratulations again!

YAO DAN & MICHAEL | Toronto Healthcare Heroes' Micro Wedding

Toronto Riverdale COVID Wedding 51.jpg

Yao Dan & Michael stepped into their wedding at a very busy time of COVID. Both are frontline healthcare professionals working tirelessly so that we and our families are well and safe. Although this season has definitely brought them many surprising changes to their original plans for what they envisioned for their special date; they were still excited to make the best of every moment. With many of their friends and families, local and overseas, weren’t able to join, we’re sure everyone was just as happy for them. We know that loved ones are waiting in anticipation for the day that lockdowns will lift and they will be able to join them in celebration face to face again! So it was with great joy that we can see them finally tying the knot and seeing their smiling eyes behind their masks.

After the cutest first look witnessed by their closest friends we headed over to their church where their marriage would be bound and sealed. After reading their lovely vows Michael’s mom had a surprise of her very own. It was a long lost letter that Michael had written to Yao Dan in grade school sharing when he first fell in love with her. The pastor asked him to read out the letter which filled the sanctuary with raw young emotion, romance and a lot of laughter from family and friends. It was fun and hilarious and carefully crafted. Michael wanted to share this letter when the relationship became serious, as love should not be taken lightly and this was definitely the moment. Yao Dan and Michael are certainly the sweetest couple who will create many more fun memories to come! Thank you for having us to capture this beautiful union!

VICKY & MICHAEL | Micro Wedding

Toronto Micro Wedding 33.jpg

Vicky and Michael’s 2020 wedding during this COVID season was not at all expected when they had planned every fine detail of this wedding the previous year. Yet even with the virus bringing the entire world to a grinding halt, their love for one another continued to move them forward over mountains and through a pandemic, to say “I do”.

With much excitement to start their married life sooner rather than later, they pressed on through planning the wedding with what mattered most. Fortunately, Vicky is a wedding planner and a makeup artist, so there was a lot of DIY. She had professionally applied her own makeup and beautifully curled her hair in the morning. They had handcrafted the cherry blossom trees as their backdrop at the house for the tea ceremony. The beautiful bouquets and boutonnieres were handmade by the talented Vicky as well! She acted as multiple vendors in one during this process!

Growing up receiving so much love and sacrifice from their parents, they cherished the opportunity to show respect and love to their parents by holding a traditional Chinese & Vietnamese tea ceremony that brought so much light and joy into this moment of time. Families and friends had even sent them edible gifts to their house to spread the love and joy!

They then made their way to their church to say their vows, exchange their rings, and seal their commitment in love. It was topped by their first kiss that silenced the entire church - literally. Although the pews remained empty, the bandwidth on their phones data spiked from all the family and friends who had attended by video chat. The support and love from everyone filled the entire church creating an energy that will continue to grow in anticipation for their public celebration with everyone face to face next year – Stay Tune!

SOMALY & CHRIS | Adamo Estate Winery Summer Wedding

Adamo Estate Winery Wedding - 24.jpg

We were counting down to Somaly and Chris’s Adamo Estate Winery wedding since their engagement session, because we knew how stunning these two look on any given day so undoubtedly they were beyond stunning on their wedding day!

Although they shared a loft style hotel room at the Hockley Valley Resort, we have coordinated well to not give away anything for their first look! While I was working on some bridal details, Chris got ready first and headed out the doors with Warden to the first location at the winery. Then Somaly came down to get finish off the preparation photos and I drove us to meet the boys. Ta-da, it works!

In her beautiful off-shoulder laced wedding gown, Somaly looked absolutely stunning coming up from behind Chris to ask him to turn around to see her for the first time in her wedding dress. It’s no wonder he couldn’t take his eyes off her! Their first look was a sweet intimate moment together and it was all smiles.

We have photographed the beautiful couple around the venue before families and guests arrived for group photos and ceremony. In substitution of unity candles or sand-pouring ceremony, they opted in for a vow/letter placed inside a secured wine box with a bottle of wine that they will open on their 5th year anniversary. So in five years time they will enjoy the wine and read the letters they have written for each other to reminisce on the wedding vibes- how thoughtful is that!

Somaly’s sister gave one of the best maid-of-honour/sister speech during dinner time! It was filled with energy, memories and fun that got the whole room laughing and nodding in agreement. She was young but mighty! Everyone loved her.

A handful of Somaly and Chris’ guests gathered to help with the sparkler exit outside the venue. It was so much fun for the couple to go through sparkler tunnels and have guests cheering them on!

Thank you Somaly and Chris for having us to be part of such a great wedding and document your special day with all your important people. We wish you a lifetime of happiness and blessings! Congratulations again!

NANCY & QUI | Toronto Edwards Garden Wedding

Toronto Edwards Garden Wedding 26.jpg

When it comes to planning a fun wedding - and I mean, FUN - Nancy and Qui sure had the right attitude in mind. They made it enjoyable for themselves, their families, and their friends … of course with a little help from the abundance of drinks ;) Don’t worry, a little Hennesey in the morning didn’t affect them too much! The pink ties complemented the blue suits really well, leaving the men with a clean-cut look. We have ourselves some Toronto Raptors fans here. With the Raptors bringing home the NBA 2019 Championship Trophy (read all about it here), Qui got his groomsmen some Raptors jerseys! While the guys were modelling the Titanic pose, the girls in the other suite were elegantly positioned on the bed for some beautiful portraits. There was even a blue wall in the suite to pair with their pretty pink robes - matching their colour theme.

Nancy, our beautiful bride, looked absolutely stunning in her white wedding gown! She was ready to surprise her groom at their first look! Qui has been patiently waiting for the arrival of his bride and when he saw her for the time, he couldn’t stop smiling! These two were so cute!

We travelled to Edwards Garden for some bridal and family portraits. It sure was busy during this wedding season at Edwards Garden, but thankfully we found a nice shaded area by the big tree that kept the family staying cool for group photos.

Since Nancy and Qui already signed their marriage license at city hall the day before, we headed straight to the reception venue at the Royale Fine Dining & Banquet. One of the best things about celebrating a wedding at a Chinese banquet hall is the food - TEN course meal - now who would still be hungry after that?!

Nancy and Qui value and appreciate each of their guests at the wedding so they decided to capture a photo with each of them in front of their rented flower wall to make memories with everyone that attended. We loved the idea of a beautiful flower wall to receive guests, especially because it creates a clean background for photos!

Once Qui popped that champagne, the fun really started for everyone! Music, fast-beat dancing, oriental karaoke, prize winning games, bottoms-up-drinks, and sentimental speeches! Speaking of speeches, Qui’s Best Man even brought in a prop, the WWE Championship belt, for the newly wed! It sure was a unique way to send blessings and wishes to the couple, they truly did feel like champs that night! It was a sweet ending to the night, as the couple hired an ice cream truck on this hot summer wedding for their guests to enjoy!

What a lively crowd to have shared this day with! Thank you Nancy and Qui for having us a part of your special day with your fun families and friends! Congratulations again on your new journey into marriage!
